‛A new communist manifesto is needed!’

Lars Ulrik Thomsen

The world today is in a very critical situation with extensive crises for which there is no prospect of finding a solution. It seems that capitalism has reached a point where it is no longer able to resolve the contradictions between productive forces and production relations.
The wars of capitalism are an example of this contradiction, in which millions of people have died and unimaginable values are lost.

Therefore, the overall task is to replace the outdated production relations with socialist ones, because they correspond to the societal nature of the productive forces. In order to realize this, a comprehensive analysis of developments internationally is needed, demonstrating the changes that have taken place with capitalism and imperialism in the 21. century.

This analysis is the purpose of The 21st Century Communist Manifesto an attempt at. The manifesto begins with an analysis of the epoch and its character, then continues with a historical review of internationalism, and the development of the labor movement. Furthermore, with an analysis of the position of the classes in the most developed capitalist countries, because they are the model for other countries and largely as they will look in the future.

Then follows an analysis of the historical development of capitalism, and how the labor movement changed strategy and tactics in the 1930s to counter fascism. This further leads to an analysis of imperialism, which is the very central point of the manifesto.

We are experiencing a development where imperialism is in deep crisis, the collapse in 2008 where the national economies had to bail out the banks, pay for the huge debt obligations in big companies and insurance companies, and with some of the worlds largest banks who cracked.

This development has not been stabilized, but is supported by large aid packages for the business community. This places a great strain on the individual states, which also have to cover the bill for subsidies and aid packages during the pandemic.

The manifesto ends with an appeal for the unification of all the forces of the people in a democratic struggle against capitalism, wars and crises. They can only be overcome if the labor movement works together internationally and strengthens unity in the class struggle!

It is my hope that the new Manifesto could be the start of an international debate how to overcome the fragmentation we see in the international labor movement and build the foundation for new progress and victories!
