Beyond Liberal's 'Human Right Violation' or Social Democrats 'abuse of AFSPA' narrative

Dawa Sherpa

The brutal killing of 13 civilians in Nagaland by Army with utmost impunity is not the act of aberrations but rather the established normal modus operandi of political interaction of Indian State  with people of this region. Many views such act as kind of extreme act  but that's how historically State has  responded to political aspirations of people of this region. Such brutal subjugation and cold blooded murder is direct result of complete lack of any juridical rights of people of this region which is enjoyed by any other citizens of this country.

Hence both liberal narrative of violation of human rights nor social democrats (Aka revisionist Left) as excess of security forces fails to comprehend the basic fact that neo colonial settler project of reducing people of this region of mere disposable and dispensable subjects who don't even enjoy dejure constitutional rights (like right to life).

AFSPA merely  executes such political dictum. AFSPA is mere symptoms not cause of this political tyranny and subordination. Hence without acknowledging the people struggle to transform themselves from  mere disposable political subjects to fully independent sovereign political agents controlling thier own political destiny, such act of condemnation will not help people to transcend tyranny of neo colonial political project of State. Rest in powers! In solidarity with aggrieved families!
